After a very long wait, the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee five-seater has officially launched in Australia, following the Grand Cherokee L seven-seater, but doubts remain over the new-generation large SUV’s ability to find anywhere near the amount of buyers as its predecessor.
Why? Well, for one the Grand Cherokee is now a lot more expensive – and we mean ‘a lot’. So much so, that it now finds itself going tyre to tyre with the Land Rover Defender and not mainstream family SUVs. Land Rover is, of course, a premium brand, while the same can’t be said of Jeep, despite its climbing prices.
So, in this expert review, CarsGuide News Editor Tung Nguyen tests out the new Grand Cherokee’s Overland flagship, complete with a very familiar naturally aspirated petrol V6 engine, to see if it can truly justify its premium positioning.
