This is description
I heard the news about the owner of a Subaru Crosstrek owner receiving a letter from the National Park Service that he could potentially face jail time and a 00 fine if he is found to be driving on a 4WD road again.
This letter has sent shock waves around the off-road and overlanding communities, but……. is this anything to be truly worried about?

Spoiler Alert!!!! The Canyonlands National Park in Moab, Utah has had these restrictions in place for a very long time now, but the News/Media is making it seem like this is something new and has been painting this ominous picture that AWDs will no longer be able to go off-road.
National Parks in general have alot of restrictions. For example, Yosemite National Park in California does not allow you to bring a firearm. On the Half Dome hike, I recently completed, I was not allowed to bring my 4.5″ survival knife (because it was considered a weapon), only knives 2.4″ are allowed. In the Grand Canyon National Park, you are NEVER allowed to traverse “muddy terrain”, NO MATTER WHAT YOU DRIVE!!! (this restriction is in place to preserve the terrain).
